Deadlines help. When there’s a deadline . . .
I sometimes create a deadline, put it on my calendar, to trick my writing mind into finishing a story draft, a section of a novel, a letter to a longtime friend, completing my review reading, or writing a recommendation.
picked, bundled, and drying lavender
I’m now writing a new chapter/section to place into the body of my second novel, The Shut-Ins, a scene I imagined in full form when I woke up this morning. It will make the book stronger, and it’s where I introduce a mysterious character who follows Lindsay, the hiker, in the next chapter. Lindsay will carry what is given to her back to her family and friends in the small town of Cross Mountain.
Good luck with all of your own deadlines.

I definitely do better when I have deadlines. It’s too easy to procrastinate otherwise.
I hear you, Rebecca. Procrastination gremlins creep in. Sneaky sort.
