Sandcastle and Other Stories is no longer free at Amazon.
I am taking part in a free promotion for Sandcastle and Other Stories this weekend beginning at midnight on Friday through midnight Monday October 1st, only a few hours left . . . as I listen to Florence + and the Machine’s killer song Heavy In Your Arms. This music places me into the mindset of many of the characters any future reader will meet when turning the pages of my first eBook. I’m not saying you’ll need Puppy Therapy after reading the psychological and literary tales in my book, but it couldn’t hurt.
Here is what the book is about: Ten literary, psychological, and suspense tales collected in Sandcastle and Other Stories are nothing short of an adventure through a roiling sea of emotion. An old man twisted by fate and a lost love . . . a young girl playing on the ocean shore becomes entangled in nets of a mercurial god . . . a divorced man mired in troubles, coerced into taking a singles’ cruise . . . a Hollywood actor in a television drama, always typecast as the bad boy . . . a child kept awake by night terrors, and a woman who hides her secretive personality from everyone on the beach one sunny day. Genuine voices of the characters, mixed with a clear-eyed tonal directness, make this a series with mesmerizing psychological interaction. Stories span a broad depth of human understanding and build a bridge between deepest chasms of pain and high portals of joy. Read Sandcastles and Other Stories and stand witness to unspeakable hate sitting with cozy wile, right beside unconditional love — a provocative and compelling mirror on the human condition.
One of the most amazing moments in the life of Sandcastle and Other Stories happened this very day. John Malik of The Huffington Post reviewed the book, and I could not be any happier. His take on the stories is original. He noticed themes, spoke about how the characters are part of a whole, the importance of water in the stories. To read the terrific review, please click HERE.
My dogs, Kipling and Zippy, asked me about the Puppy Therapy dog . . . both are circling their dog beds with a wary gleam in their eyes.
The other great turn of events this weekend (September 29th, 2012) is that my friend Rachel Thompson is also involved in a free book promotion at Amazon. Please check out her funny and great book, The Mancode: Exposed, about women, men and the way we communicate, the nuts and bolts, and lighting strike moments . . . HERE.
I want to point out a blog by Ben Ditmars, an extraordinary poet, author of Night Poems, and friend, who was kind enough to feature my book and the promotion. Here’s a link to his blog and my Guest Post, including a couple haikus . . . click HERE.
The final post I want to point you towards is by Tracy James Jones, author of Secrets & Lies 2 — A Family Affair, and a huge indie author supporter. Tracy allowed me to write a guest post about going free at Amazon. Just click HERE to read.
The night is young and my book event is happening in less than two hours now. Grab a glass of champagne on your way into the venue, and a copy of Sandcastle and Other Stories. After you read the stories, please let me know what story is your favorite. And please comment below about the book and share your thoughts.
