Today it’s time for more poetry. A frosty morning inspires like nothing else. Most are in haiku form, but there is one free verse poem attached at the end, 20 in all. I hope you enjoy. These poems were written in the spirit of fun, and not with any yearning for greatness in the poetic realms — they are inadequate enough to enjoy.
1) Incorrigible
haiku to meet you
a greeting formal strict rig –
id yearning to please
2) Shite
That makes two of us
lonely haiku wranglers drunk
on verbalized shite.
3) Yearning
Extreme broke dating –
a stroll by a cheap river –
no call back fury.
4) Hope
If I only lived
by a river curvaceous —
second date frolic.
5) 3rd-Person
The Bog rules from a
lost totalitarian
realm – Ukraine rising.
6) Nostalgia
Bee Gees staying a
live under mirrorball skies
boogie bump and grind.
7) Santa Poetic
Surprise night poems down
the chimney and out of the
sack into stocking.
8) Hen Envy
In a moment of
frenzied turkey slapping lust
roosters get jealous.
9) Pond Scum
toxic algae blooms
no swimming anymore, boat, dog,
human, broken hearts.
10) Aussie Call
Dionne, howdy-do?
Writing in haiku a turn
on for shy poets.
11) 7 or seven
Three lines 5 sylla
bles, 7, five again to fin
ish . . . a piece of cake.
12) Ohio Myths
Ben does a hit and
haiku to meet up beyond
gnome barriers.
13) Bowing To A Master
Another drifter
through the snowy depths of dream
falls to The Sandman’s will.
14) No Way Out
My mind is a mad
house. Drafty attic beams old
frantic anxiety.
15) Ben and Rob Play Nice
oooo Haiku in the
Night makes a play for From Where
I Stand fickle poems.
16) Melissa Craig Dreams
Footballer fondlings
On fields lush secretive green
Muscled lust spike goals.
17) Book Release – Part One
Procrastination
dreams haunt and laugh at needs and
wants – thy kingdom come . . .
18) Book Release – Part Two
Thy will be done – in
global pockets, Sandcastle
builders unite now.
19) Nightmare
pink dreams of crushing
red to frothy bubble blast
sticking scab to scar
And a Poem to tide the denizens of the murk over . . .
Amphibian
Slightly froggy
chill, slimy, green.
There is only the lilypad’s edge —
little else.
My feet become webbed.
I am a snap of tongue
extended, dragonfly jet slamming
Down my gullet.
I hope you enjoy my second foray into poetic realms here at A Writer’s Life. Living inside a poetic mindset, each word must deliver.
Justin
P.S. The painting of the people fishing off the dock is another of my father’s from his Boardwalk series.

I love these. I giggled at a few of them, and the nightmare one kind of sticks to you…just like a real nightmare huh.
I can hear you, Dee ~hehe~ and that is so great. I don’t think Ajax The Gray wanted me to post another photo of him though — getting lots of loaded looks from him now 😉
OMG! Loved them Justin! You made me laugh and I’m still smiling. You are very clever :).
Yes, and I even had my own turkey slap haiku! Thank you, Dionne. Love the poetic world we live in.
Awww… I am so putting ‘Footballer Fondlings’ at the front of that story when I get around to publishing it.
Really? Aweseme, Melissa. xoxo I got a kick out of that one too.
This was funny. Loved the use of your friends, clever. Love the pics…dad’s is very good.
Haiku is fun poetry to write (the rigid form filled with changes), and placing friends into the mix is also fun. Thank you always, Kim.
Thank you, Justin. These made me smile 🙂
You were there when they were born, B 😉
I love these Justin. Ooh 5 and 6. Ooh 14. Ooh 17 and 18. (where ‘Ooh’ is an expression of impressed glee). Thanks Justin. What a treat. Cathy x
ooo, thank you, Cathy. I often think about replying in poetic fashion. Poetry is free.
God I miss being here !!!!!
I love them Justin and they way you use the name is very funny but so clever!!
Of course the pics once again are amazing !! “3rd-Person” is my favorite.
Hug to Kipling from Stuliana 🙂
Staury!
Hi Staury and Stuliana . . . Kipling loves your comment too. Poetry, to me, is about being free and fun.
